Michigan’s lame duck legislative session includes four election-related bills that need to be opposed – NOW!
Tell your legislators via phone call or email to OPPOSE:
National Popular Vote — this legislation would have Michigan join a coalition of states pledging their electors to whichever presidential candidate wins the popular vote in those states. This bill will disenfranchise millions of Michigan voters because it will prioritize the wishes of voters in more highly populated
states.
Michigan Voting Rights Act — This package of bills would unleash lawfare opportunities for “protected classes,” empowering activist law firms to sue local governments with claims they violated the rights of people of color and/or language differences. It includes a host of other problems. See news article on MFEI’s site. https://www.mifairelections.org/post/this-is-it-mi-voting-rights-up-for-historic-final-vote
Sanctuary State — House Bill 4410 and House Bill 4412 remove the citizenship or legal presence requirements for obtaining a driver’s license or state identification care. The definition of Michigan residency is changed to include “residents” who “settled … with the intention of remaining.”
Restrictions to Voter Roll Transparency — Without voter roll transparency, there is no election accountability. Any legislation restricting access to the voter rolls, except in very limited circumstances, needs to be OPPOSED. See Senate Bill 707 and Senate Bill 1068.
